Simple ingredients and delicious flavours come together in these cookies that taste like a bite out of Black Forest Cake. Perfect for any occasion.

Prep Time: 20 min

Bake time: 10-13 min

Yield: 50 cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter

  • 1 box instant chocolate pudding mix (4 serving size)

  • 1 egg

  • 2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • Candied cherries

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 325F

  2. Beat together butter and chocolate pudding in the bowl of a stand mixer until creamed together. Scrape sides a few times to evenly incorporate everything.

  3. Add the egg and mix thoroughly, scraping sides & blending all the ingredients together.

  4. Add in flour one cup at a time and mix until no flour remains.

  5. Place the granulated sugar in a small bowl.

  6. Use a small cookie scoop to portion out dough. Roll each ball of dough in granulated sugar before placing on a parchment lined baking sheet.

  7. Press a dent into each ball of dough using the rounded side of a 1/2tsp spoon.

  8. Bake in a pre-heated oven for 10-13min until just firm enough to pick up and place on a cooling rack.

  9. Let cookies cool completely before decorating.

  10. In a small saucepan melt butter and chocolate chips together. Place the melted chocolate in a small plastic bag and cut off the corner to pip it out onto the cookies.

  11. Pipe a small dab of melted chocolate in each cookie dent and place a single candied cherry in each dent.

  12. Arrange all the cookies with cherries in them on a wire rack and drizzle with the melted chocolate.

Zhuzh it up!

  • I like to made a double batch of cookies one day and keep them stored in the freezer, undecorated. This splits up the work between two days & allows the cookies to look their best for my cookie plate.
